My baking attacked me too, it started out great. I planned on making these Cake Pop Chicks.

The instructions aren't hard and they looked so good.
It started out ok...

I mean you really can't go wrong with chocolate cake and icing, right?

After I froze them I started dipping in the candy coating. Now I've never used it before, but I looked up all sorts of resources and instructions so I felt prepared. I melted the candies in the microwave 30 seconds at a time until they were nice and creamy! Put the sticks into the cake and dipped. All was good and I didn't even have issues getting the cake out of the candy coating. I went to put the stick into the foam for drying. Suddenly the cake was not on top of the stick, but had slid down to the bottom, and covered my fingers in candy coating. Hot candy coating! So I gave up on the sticks and just put the cake balls onto a cookie sheet. I figured that I could still decorate them like chicks and bunnies. Well that didn't work either, so I just covered them in sprinkles!

Do you like?

I would still eat them all!! Hey, it's your first try! :)
ReplyDeleteThey look very tasty!! I haven't made candy in a long time. My mom taught me how when I was a kid, but I haven't tried it since.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those look so good!
ReplyDeleteOK. I had to laugh out loud at this. But I feel OK telling you because mine failed too. That's such a cute idea - did you see it on Bakerella too? Also, what did you think of the cake balls? I thought they'd taste better than they did. I mean, cake, icing, chocolate - how could that go wrong? But it did. They were just, uh, weird.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the cheese cake balls? I think I'll try that next since you can just buy the cheesecake filling in a tub. Less of a time suck in case of a fail. (Don't tell, haha) :D
